First passengers used Ryanair’s new route from Košice to Zadar

Today, Ryanair launched its new flight route between Košice and Zadar. The first flight of the Airbus A320, which took off from Zadar Airport shortly before 4 PM, landed at Košice Airport at 5:20 PM local time.

Upon arrival, the aircraft was welcomed with a ceremonial water arch provided by the Košice Airport Fire and Rescue Service. The inaugural flight to Zadar carried 179 passengers, representing a 99% occupancy rate. This new connection offers Slovak travelers the opportunity to replace long car journeys with fast and comfortable air travel. Flights will operate twice weekly, specifically on Wednesday mornings and Sunday afternoons, using an Airbus A320 with a capacity of 180 seats.

Tomáš Jančuš, Deputy Executive Director and Board Member of Košice Airport, commented:

“We are excited that Ryanair has opened a route connecting Košice with Zadar. Croatia has long been one of the most popular destinations for Slovaks. The high occupancy of today’s flight confirms the immense interest in this route. It is an important step on our journey to becoming the preferred airport for Eastern Slovakia.”

Alicja Golebiowska, Ryanair’s Manager for Central and Eastern Europe and the Baltics, added:

“We are pleased to announce the start of operations on our latest route from Košice to the beautiful Zadar! This summer destination demonstrates our commitment to improving the accessibility of Košice and Eastern Slovakia. We believe that Slovak travelers will take advantage of this opportunity to explore the beauties of Croatia and that Croatians will also have the chance to discover Košice and the entire Eastern Slovakia.”

Rastislav Trnka, Chairman of the Košice Self-Governing Region, said:

“Croatia is the most popular seaside destination for Slovaks, often referred to as the ‘Slovak sea.’ Just last year, more than half a million Slovaks visited it. It is excellent that from today, this popular destination is accessible by a direct flight from Košice. From our city, we can be by the sea in an hour and a half. I believe that our region also has a lot to offer Croatian tourists and that thanks to this route, they will come to discover its beauties.”

Aleksandar Heina, Croatian Ambassador to Slovakia, stated:

“I am thrilled to welcome the opening of the new route between Košice and Zadar. This route is a unique opportunity for Slovak travelers to explore the beauties of Croatia. Our countries have long-standing friendly relations and cultural exchange. The new air connection will further deepen these relationships. I believe it will bring a lot of joy and unforgettable experiences to all travelers. I look forward to further cooperation and building stronger ties between our nations.”
