What to see in Málaga

• Alcazaba and Gibralfaro Castle – the Moorish fortress and the castle above it offer beautiful views of the city and coast.
• Málaga Cathedral – nicknamed La Manquita (“the one-armed lady”) because one of its towers was never completed, an impressive building mixing several architectural styles.
• Picasso Museum – Málaga is Pablo Picasso’s birthplace, and the museum holds a large collection of his works.
• Centre Pompidou Málaga – the branch of the Paris museum with modern art and interactive exhibitions, set in the colourful cube at the port.
• Paseo del Parque – a lovely promenade park with exotic plants and sculptures.
• Beaches – such as the popular Malagueta beach, with sunny days and fresh seafood.
• Atarazanas Market – the central market with fresh local produce, seafood and traditional Spanish treats.
• Tapas – Málaga’s lively food scene is best explored in its many tapas bars.

Flights from Košice

Since 30 March 2026 Košice has been linked with Málaga by a direct year-round Ryanair route – the first ever scheduled direct connection between Košice and Spain. Flights operate twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, bringing the Costa del Sol within easy reach of eastern Slovakia without a connection. Check current departure times in the flight schedule.

Practical tips

• From Málaga Airport the C1 suburban train runs regularly throughout the day to the city centre.
• The best time to visit is May, June and September, when you avoid the summer heat and the biggest crowds.
• Málaga is also a good base for trips around Andalusia – Seville, Granada and Ronda are within reach by train, bus or car.
