Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved historic cities in Europe. Medieval streets, Gothic and Baroque architecture and a lively cultural scene make it worth exploring at every turn.

What to see in Prague

• Old Town Square – the heart of the historic centre with the Old Town Hall and its astronomical clock and the Church of Our Lady before Týn.
• Prague Castle (Hradčany) – one of the largest castle complexes in the world, home to St Vitus Cathedral and the Golden Lane.
• Charles Bridge – the famous stone bridge across the Vltava, lined with Baroque statues of saints, linking the Old Town with Malá Strana.
• Malá Strana – a picturesque quarter below the castle with narrow lanes, Baroque palaces and churches.
• Wenceslas Square – a long boulevard of shops, restaurants and hotels, crowned by the statue of St Wenceslas.

• National Theatre – a symbol of Czech culture, staging opera, ballet and drama.
• Letná Park – a hilltop park with one of the best views of the Vltava bridges and the Old Town.
• Pubs and breweries – Prague is famous for traditional beer halls and microbreweries serving Czech beer and hearty local food.

Flights from Košice

Direct flights between Košice and Prague are operated by Ryanair, the only airline on the route, as flight FR 7516 (FR 7517 in the opposite direction) with a 189-seat Boeing 737-800. The 533 km flight takes about 1 hour 15 minutes. In the summer 2026 schedule the route runs daily, but the departure time from Košice varies by almost nine hours depending on the day of the week – from 11:45 on Sunday to 20:40 on Wednesday and Friday – so always check the exact time for your date. From 25 October 2026 the winter schedule applies and the frequency drops from daily to five flights a week.

In Prague the aircraft arrives at Terminal 2, which handles Schengen flights, so there is no passport control after landing.

Practical tips

• Flights land at Václav Havel Airport (PRG). To reach the centre take bus 119 to Nádraží Veleslavín metro station (line A) or the Airport Express bus to the main railway station.
• With a daily connection Prague works all year round, not only in season – it is ideal for a long weekend.
• Ryanair has strict cabin and checked baggage rules; oversized or extra bags cost extra, so check sizes and weights when you book.
